GERONTE is a 6-year research and innovation project (April 2021 to March 2027). It is funded by the European Union within the framework of the H2020 Research and Innovation programme. It was created by the professor Pierre Soubeyran, specialist in medical oncology , and the University of Bordeaux.
The overall aim of GERONTE is to improve quality of life for older patients, living with multiple diseases simultaneously, including a cancer. In this project, well being is not limited to the health status : it takes into accountability the autonomy and capacity to realise day to day activites.
To reach that objective, patients, health profesionnals and searchers work together to conceive and test a new way to organise the medical pathway. This approach aims to place the patient at the heart of the decisions, taking into account their problematics in their globality.
This new approach, called GerOnTe intervention, is actually tested in 10 centers in France ; It aims to be implemented at the european scale.
GerOnTe aims to help patients have a better day to day life thanks to new innovative ressources.
